Lambert le géant

Lambert, the Giant Lambert, le géant

Lambert, the Giant is a participatory artwork created as part of the City of Lambersart's 2025 call for projects.

The project begins with the traditional figure of the giant, deeply connected to the cultural identity of northern France and to the symbolic representation of local communities.

In Lambersart, this figure also refers to Lambert, the city's giant, whose appearances ceased several years ago.

The artwork revisits this tradition through a contemporary, ultra-light steel structure made up of 255 aluminium plates.

Each plate provides a space for expression entrusted to the residents of Lambersart. Drawings, paintings, engravings, collages, texts and graphic experiments were produced individually or collectively, without particular artistic-level requirements or thematic constraints.

Several local associations therefore took part in order to represent their commitments. Residents of cities twinned with Lambersart also joined the project, giving it an international dimension.

The project thus explores citizenship, dialogue and participation, making artistic creation a way to bring together residents with different backgrounds and sensibilities around a shared object.
